Sacred Syllable Aum ‘Emerging’ in Yantra Art
When I was in 7th and 8th grade I had a cool art teacher. He introduced drawing of geometrical patterns in class which I enjoyed a lot. I started feeling creative and explored with it for a year or two. Only now I am coming back to it by exploring yantra art and sacred geometry. I am intrigued by the statement that yantra painting can lead to higher states of consciousness. Some even claim it can bring enlightenment.
Playing around with design software, I started exploring the creation of yantras. Yantra is a sanskrit word meaning support or device as yantras are used in worship and meditation. Here you can see one such creation called ‘Emerging’.
‘Emerging’ refers here to the Aum symbol coming from the Source symbolized by white light. Aum pronounced Om is the sacred syllable and symbol that represents creation in the Hindu tradition; everything that was, is and will be. Aum is also one of the many symbols used for Shiva. Here Shiva is represented by the triangle, a static triangle that represents Consciousness, and Shakti, the dynamic triangle that stands for creation or energy. Shiva and Shakti merged look like a six-pointed star or the Star of David, a common symbol used in yantra art. Within the outer circle or circumference we find all of creation contained to be further explored in future postings.
