We are not who we think we are. We are not this mass or matter of skin, bones, and body liquids. Einstein said that matter is energy. We are energy beings with seven major energy centers along our spine. These energy centers or chakras can be made visible through Kirlian photography.

Chakras regulate Energy Flow and Creativity

Chakras regulate the energy flow throughout your body mind system. Whenever you get dis-eased you experience a block in your energy flow stifling your creativity. Minute awareness, a change in thinking and habits, relaxation, and meditation may help bring you out of the state of dis-ease, depression and negative thinking.

Our Seven Major Energy Centers and Deities to be Invoked for Each Chakra

All of the seven major chakras are individually associated with a deity or god to be invoked for blessings.

1 – Mooladhara or Root Chakra – located at the base of the spine – seat of Ananda Ganesha, the God of Good Beginnings
2 – Swadishtana or Spleen Chakra – located two inches below the navel – seat of Ananda Subramania, the God of Courage
3 – Manipuraka or Navel Chakra – located at the navel region – seat of Ananda Surya, the Sun God
4 – Anahata or Heart Chakra – located at the heart region – seat of Ananda Venkateshwara, the God of Compassion
5 – Vishuddhi or Throat Chakra – located at the throat region – seat of Anandeshwari, the Goddess of Creativity
6 – Ajna or Brow (Third Eye) Chakra – located between the two eyebrows – seat of Anandeshwara or Shiva, the God of Auspiciousness
7 – Sahasrara or Crown Chakra – located on top of the head – seat of Ananda Dakshinamoorti, the God of Enlightenment

Each chakra or energy center is also associated with a particular gland, color, sound and symbol, and illnesses representing energy blocks.

The Cosmic Mother represents Creativity and Energy

As artist you will be mainly concerned with the 5th chakra or energy center which is located at the throat. It is also called throat chakra or vishuddhi chakra. It is the seat of Anandeshwari, the Goddess of Creativity. Another name for her is Parvati or Devi, the consort of Shiva. Devi is the Cosmic Mother who represents creativity and is an ocean of energy. She holds the kumudam flower in her right hand which represents the flowering of consciousness or enlightenment wherein the artist reaches deepest levels of creativity.

This chakra is related to the emotion of jealousy which comes through comparison. Observe your thoughts in situations and circumstances when your throat chakra contracts and become aware of it doing so. Then through awareness and attention it gradually will open again. Then by that time another thought has entered your mind and the reason for comparison and the resulting jealousy has left you. To take it a step further, to stop comparison you need to be aware of your own worth; you need to realize your own uniqueness without being proud. Meditation leads you into that awareness of who you are and what your potential is. You will then soar beyond comparison; for you are free from jealousy.

Express unbounded Creativity and Energy

If you are low on energy, are jealous or your creativity is not flowing, connect with the Cosmic Mother. Praying to Devi we go beyond jealousy and express unbounded creativity and energy. Fridays are auspicious for her worship (all our postings are done on Fridays). One can chant the Sanskrit stotram on Mahisasura Mardini or the Lalita Sahasranam. (Note: Ferocious looking images of Devi symbolically demonstrate her power and victory over evil meaning our inner fight with our ego, negativity and depression.)

The easiest way to find out if your 5th chakra is blocked is by observing when you feel competitive or jealous, or when you feel you are not creative. So if your 5th chakra is blocked, ask yourself: What is your own self worth? What is your uniqueness? Who are you (who am I)? What is your potential?
